When to go to Vanuatu?
Vanuatu’s tropical climate has two distinct seasons: Wet and dry. The former occurs from November to April and sees temperatures rise to 31°C in January, February, March and December. The latter is slightly cooler, with minimum temperatures of 17°C possible in June, July and August.
Pearl of Oceania, the archipelago of 83 islands seduces travellers with its idyllic setting, its geological wealth (volcanoes, blue lagoons, the seabed) and its mysterious tribes. The two distinct seasons follow each other.
Between November and April , the wet season is prone to cyclones. The sunshine is appreciable, especially during the months of December and February which have an average of 10 hours of daily sun. March is most affected by rainfall with 349 mm of rainfall recorded in Port Vila. Expect 18 rainy days in March and April for 11 days of sunshine.
The dry season from May to October brings favourable weather conditions with low rainfall - 92 mm in July in Port Vila and 81 mm in August and frequent sunny days (18 in September). Sunshine days become more prevalent, but sunshine hours diminish with an average of 5 hours per day during the months of June, July and August.
If you love diving or swimming, choose the dry season between May and October for a trip to Vanuatu when the good weather is also opportune for exploring the islands.
