When to go to Qatar?
A true desert climate, Qatar has two distinct seasons, identified by their temperatures. FromNovember to April, expect temperatures of 20ºC during the mild season. The hot season experiences temperatures approaching 42°C in June or July.
For a stopover of a few days or a longer stay, the Arabian Peninsula attracts crowds of the curious eager to discover the Doha tower, the souks of Doha, the Sealine beach or the high desert dunes.
The weather is more or less favourable depending on your chosen period, so it is important to plan the dates of your stay:
The most agreeable temperatures are to be had between November and April during the mild season. For example, the temperature hovers between 21°C and 30°C during November. Sunshine hours are good, 7 hours daily in January, February and December and 10 hours in November, March and April. The rare rains occur during this period but remain very limited with a peak of 14 mm of rainfall recorded in January.
The hot season basks in high temperatures of 31°C to 42°C in July. The 80% ambient humidity makes the air all the more stifling. Rainfall is non-existent during June and July, the two months which are consistently sunny. This is also the season of sandstorms.
In order to avoid the stifling heat of the hot season, plan your trip to Qatar between November and April. The conditions are ideal for visiting Doha’s monuments, and its desert landscapes. The sea temperature (between 19°C and 27°C) will encourage you to take advantage of Qatar’s seaside riches.
