When to go to Mongolia?
With an extreme continental climate, very cold winters and milder summers, it is better to plan to explore Mongolia during the summer months of July and August in order to enjoy temperatures which go beyond 20°C.
The climate of Mongolia is of the continental variety with extremely cold winters of up to -40°C at night in January, and hot summers. The rainfall here is very low and the sky is often clear, with more than 260 days of sunshine per year. The cold weather here is therefore dry and often accompanied by a rather fierce wind, particularly in spring, which causes huge sandstorms.
In winter, the average temperature in January and February is -20°C. The cold weather is intense and dry. During this season, it snows very little.
In spring, temperatures start to warm up, being able to reach 17°C during the day. The winds by contrast are more fierce and cause sandstorms.
In summer and autumn, temperatures can go beyond 20°C but the rain does make an appearance. The rain can be considerable in the mountainous regions and virtually non-existent in the Gobi desert in the south of the country. It is in the months of July and August that you should aim to visit for a trip to Mongolia . Starting in October, the temperatures drop, with an average of 5°C.
