There are in fact forty beaches in Hong Kong, each different from the other, giving you plenty of choice for a fun day out in the sun.
f you think you can't go surfing in Hong Kong, then think again! There are many great surfing spots in the area, including Big Wave Bay Beach in Shek O. Rent your equipment for the day and enjoy the waves. The ideal season for surfing is between October and November.
If you're looking for a supervised beach with a family atmosphere and all the necessary comfort then you've come to the right place. Hong Kong has many sandy beaches staffed with lifeguards and equipped with shark prevention nets. Offering a number of convenient amenities, most beaches are easily reached by public transport such as Repulse Bay Beach and Shek O Beach.

The most beautiful beaches
Shek O Beach (Hong Kong Island)
Shek O Beach is arguably on of the prettiest beaches on Hong Kong island. Located only one hour from the city centre, this lifeguarded beach is easily accessible by public transport. Showers and lockers are available on site.
Big Wave Bay Beach (Hong Kong Island)
Surf lovers, this is a beach for you. Sits just next to Shek O beach, this beach is great for surfing with impressive waves, especially during stormy weather. Showers and lockers are available on site.
Repulse Bay Beach (Hong Kong Island)
This beautiful sandy beach is in the shape of a half-moon and surrounded by modern buildings. Located on the south of the island, this supervised beach is extermely popular with both tourists and locals.
Ham Tin Wan Beach (New Territories)
Ham Tin Beach is a stretch of virgin beach located on Sai Kung Peninsula. You can only get to this beach if you're hiking along the MacLehose Trail. A gorgeous wild beach worthy of a postcard.
Sai Wan Beach (New Territories)
Sai Wan Beach is a large, deserted beach with fine white sand that is located on the Sai Kung Peninsula.
South Bay Beach (Hong Kong Island)
South Bay is a bit less crowded than its neighbouring beaches and is only a ten-minute drive from Repulse Bay Beach. Popular with families, this beach is great for swimming and the bordering trees will keep you shaded from the sun. Showers, lockers and barbecues are available on site.
Chung Hom Kok Beach (Hong Kong Island)
Not far from Stanley village, Chung Hom Kok beach is a pretty and quiet beach, tucked away off the road. Climb down the stairs to reach this hidden beach to enjoy superb views of the bay.
Stanley Beach (Hong Kong Island)
Stanley, a former fishing village, is better known for its pretty beach that is both clean and convenient for tourists.
Turtle Cove Beach (Hong Kong Island)
Although it's not so easy to get to, Turtle Cove is a great little beach with few tourists.
Mui Wo Silvermine Bay (Lantau Island)
This superb sandy beach is quite big and doesn't attract heaps of tourist. Ideal for a relaxing day in the sea and the sun.
Pui O Beach (Lantau Island)
Pui O Beach is the finishing point of a wonderful hike that starts in Mui Wo. This stretch of beach is superb and not overcrowded.
Lower Cheung Sha Beach (Lantau Island)
Beautiful beach on Lantau Island that also offers a stunnning panorama.
Upper Cheung Sha Beach (Lantau Island)
