When to go to Curaçao?
Wit hits semi-arid, tropical climate, Curaçao is an island with sunny weather and has little rainfall. You can however make out two distinct seasons – one dry which runs from January to September, and one humid one from October to December. Temperatures stay high all throughout the year at above 30°C, even though the heat is often reduced by ‘trade winds’ – winds coming from the north east.
During the rain season, from October to December, maximum temperatures can rise up to 33°C, while minimum temperatures never drop below 25°C. Despite the small amount of rain, there is still significant sunshine. Thunderstorms can occur, but the island is generally spared from hurricanes.
During the dry season, the sunshine lasts for longer and temperatures are higher, with an average of 33°C between June and September. The months of January, February and March are particularly recommended for a trip to Curaçao, as the heat is less intense, with maximum temperatures being 30°C on average, while the water temperature is always high at around 27°C. It is a time to enjoy the white sand beaches or to visit the capital’s Dutch-influenced historical quarters.
At any time of year, Curaçao remains an enjoyable destination, as the air and water temperatures are warm and there is a constant amount of sunshine. The rain season is still the least recommended time to visit, despite rainfall being low, while the months of January, February and March, at the very start of the dry season, are the best months for tourism.
