The climate of Costa Rica is characterised by two seasons: the summer season and the wet season. The dry season goes from December to April whereas the wet season goes from May to November. The geography of the Costa Rican regions has led to the formation of three distinct climate areas: a temperate climate in the valleys, the tropical-humid climate on the east and a tropical zone from west to the Pacific with very warm summers. As a result, temperatures should be relatively stable all along your journey across Costa Rica, earning the name of the "eternal spring" country with an average of 20°C/68°F. In San José, the colder days indicates a minimum of 15°C/59°F and a 26°C/78°F at the height of summer. On the Caribbean coast, the heat is overwhelming (up to 30°C/87°F) even at night (21°C/69°F on average). On the western coast of the country, the temperatures can go up to 32°/89°F but are lower inland (17°C/62°F).
